Summer Slowdown
A chance to recharge and reflect
Hello mortals,
We hope you’re enjoying a blissful summer filled with whatever brings you joy–and we have a little update to share.
As we slide into the slow, lingering high summer days of mid-August, we're hitting the snooze button on our newsletter to embrace a summer slowdown.
I (Maura) am spending time on Cape Cod, MA, with my family, and at Higgins Lake in Michigan with my new fiance’s (as of a few weeks!) family. At the end of August, I’ll return to my camp counselor roots as a first-time volunteer at Experience Camps in Maine. This incredible program offers a free one-week camp for boys and girls who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, or primary caregiver—something I wish I had known about when my mom died.
Carolyn is refueling with nature and family up in Freedom, Maine, where she’s spending the summer in the small farmhouse she and her husband began renovating in 2021 following the death of her brother. Creatively, she’s been focusing on some exciting new work with a Tibetan Buddhist center and their publishing imprint. In light of mortality, she’s doing her best to slow down and enjoy time in the garden and on the coast with her 14-month-old son.
While we are slowing down, we’re not completely stopping. I’m continuing to finalize a course to help you prepare a comprehensive end-of-life plan. If you’re like me and open to accepting and planning for your last days, you can reply to this email or register now for half off and save your spot in our first cohort! Your participation and feedback will help me evolve the course and create a thriving conversation and community around end-of-life.
We’ll be back in September with some exciting updates and changes to the newsletter! Until then, we’d love to hear about any of your summer slowdown plans.
